I Am Iron Man
Saw the movie—first time I made a point of seeing a movie when it opened in a while. I had pretty high hopes for this thing, and I also had some concerns, and I have to say, on the whole, I was pretty impressed.
Of course, I’m not a super-critical judge of the adaptation, because I don’t really have detailed memories of the contents of the comics. I do have a sort of generic fond feeling, though; Iron Man is one of the two comics I have concrete memories of reading as a kid, the other being Silver Surfer.
Which I realized today is kind of interesting. These are two characters defined by their alienation, their participation in mass destruction, and their shiny metal exterior.
