Flow: How action and awareness get things done | 43 Folders

Ha! I haven’t run across Csikszentmihalyi (Professor Roth always pronounced it “Chicks-um-Me-high”) in ages. It’s one of those (sometimes enlightening, sometimes really intellectually suspect) border areas between the phenomenology of religious mysticism and the psychology/neurology of everyday life.

I’m certainly familiar with the process; for me it kicks in when I’m writing/typing and I start getting momentum; writing is one of the few times I can shut down the reflective part of my consciousness.

This is, of course, one of the reasons I love writing so much. (And vice versa, I’m sure.)

so…can I get on board the FTM business?

I say this only so I can make a “Scott Baculum” joke, of course, but one imagines it will spiral from there.
