Andrew definitely gets God+1 for pointing this blog out to me. Despite the fact that I do not read comic books.
Sixty Folk-tales from Slavonic Sources Index
This collection of Slavic folktales at first glance appears to have all of the usual suspects of European Märchen. Evil stepmothers: check; plucky youths overcome impossible odds to marry kings’ daughter: check; dimwitted peasants given magical gifts: check.
I felt this might be relevant to someone’s interests.
From one of the knitting blogs I occasionally read, comes a travel story that sounds like something from Andrew:
As usual most abroad do not think I am American until I open my mouth. Lufthansa crews invariably addressed me in German, and in Istanbul was generally assumed I am Italian or Spanish. Ship’s crew thinks I am Jewish, chefs keep advising me which dishes contain pork.
The RUR reference is for Andrew, although I doubt he’s checking in regularly from Europe.
Zucchini cakes are awesome – Slashfood
Por Nick and Tall, inspired by your handful of latke making sessions. I’m not complaining about the potatoes, but you could expand your repertoire to all sorts of shredded, egged, fried things. For some strange reason I hate the way eggs smell when they’re cooking. I recently learned how to temper eggs (or rather, I did it for the first time recently—its not as difficult as the mac and cheese blog push meme would have you believe). I’m not entirely sure how that’s related.
IMDB reports that Michael Plain is going to “ambassador” (I didn’t know that was a verb) “a plan to revive interest” in geography.
