The last few words are clearly the best. Moral of the story: All you aspiring anthropologists had better have a good plan B.

Marc Maron

Monday, June 12th, 2006

It occurs to me that I spend almost no time trying to persuade people to listen to Marc Maron, despite the fact that I consume roughly an hour of Marc Maron show every single weekday, which far outstrips any other first-run media consumption on my part. Not sure what the basis of my affection is; may have something to do with the fact that, normally, progressive/activist humor isn’t very funny (it’s a humorless crowd), but Maron and Jim Earl are very, very funny, without undercutting their message (as with Daily Show, not that I don’t love Daily Show).

Of course, I can only proselytize so hard when Air America wants you to pay money for a podcast (which I actually do, but it’s hard to ask others to do the same without a preexisting loyalty.) I suppose I could try to get people to use the free streaming audio between 10pm and 12pm Pacific, but I have trouble persuading people to use streaming content, since it sucks so hard.
